When service vehicles (this is is for an electricity and gas supply company) need to access areas which are only accessible by bike and footpath they can do so without greatly inconveniencing cyclists too much because the paths were built with sensible proportions in the first place.
Also, because this is just a bike path and not a road, no amount of irresponsible parking can result in cyclists having to ride out into fast flowing traffic.
