Martin asks: Cyclists dismount. Why? What a silly sign.
Simon replies: this is a back covering exercise by the County Council. The parapets on the bridge are probably not high / strong enough to withstand being hit by a cyclist, and so the tell you to get off. If you have an injury while cycling over it, the sign gets them off the hook. The bridge was probably designed for walkers only, and then when they relabelled the footpath as a shared use cycleway they had to add such a sign.
